A Universe of Stories
Summer Reading June 17th-August 9th, 2019
Calling all Earthling Readers! This summer, let’s blast into space and take a tour of our solar system by reading as a community! For every 20 minutes you spend reading (or listening) to a book, you will help the DDL Spaceship make its way through all 8 planets.* The spaceship leaves Planet Earth on Monday, June 17 and has until Friday, August 9 to make it back! To do this, we need to fuel the spaceship with 56,000 minutes of reading. Every 7,000 minutes of reading logged by the community will get the spaceship to the next planet and hopefully back home again. Are you ready to go on this galactic getaway through the stars? As a community, we can do this!
Summer Reading is open to all Dowagiac District Library patrons. Those registering will receive a drawstring book bag and reading log. All reading log entries collected throughout the challenge will be entered into drawings for prizes in the following categories: kids, teens and adults.
For more information and to register, see Melissa Phillips upstairs in the Youth Services area or any of our “stellar” staff at the circulation desk.
*Sorry, Pluto. Also, we’ll track the spaceship and community’s cosmic reading journey through space in the library’s new “Celestial Stairway” — be sure to check it out!
Runs from June 17 through August 9. Reading slips are due by August 16th.
